Supporters in the U.S. House

U.S. Representatives

The web pages within this Single-Payer Support Monitor, such as this one, are the best way to know the current support level for single-payer via improved Medicare for All, as explained here:

We report the members of the U.S. Congress who are supporters. Therefore, the list might not be the same as the Thomas Register's list of cosponsors, which is sometimes inaccurate.

— The Library of Congress list is not updated when a Representative
s no longer a supporter, such as when one of them dies or resigns.
— The Library of Congress list is normally NOT accurate during the entire first year of any two-year Congress.
Many of the U.S. Representatives who are supporters of improved Medicare for All
do not "re-sign" as a cosponsor until 6 to 12 months or more into a session of Congress.

Communications

To Citizens:
If you reside in a U.S. Congressional District of a supporter, please note that we still send that U.S. Representative monthly letters. If you know that they not only support Medicare for All, but they also promote its support to other members of Congress and to citizens, then write "Thanks for your continued support." as your hand-written addition each month. This is very important. Supporters need to know that you are behind their position.. When I visited the offices of supporters in 2007 I was told that they very much appreciate thank-you notes -- Bob.

To U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators who support Medicare for All
— Please submit your support or simply contact us to discuss your support. -- Bob

For Your Information

Starting in 2011 we record the actual list of supporters, independent of whether a specific U.S. Representative is on the Library of Congress' list of cosponsors. The Library of Congress does not always have an accurate list. For example, the list of cosponsors is not updated when a Representative is no longer a supporter, such as when one of them dies or resigns.

Explanation About the List of Cosponsors
that is maintained by the Library of Congress

The Library of Congress supposedly maintains the current list of U.S. Representatives who are cosponsors of U.S. House Resolution 676. H.R. 676 is the proposed U.S. legislation for Improved Medicare for All via single-payer health care. See the Library of Congress index for H.R.676; then select “Printer Friendly Display”

However, the U.S. Congress has never instructed the Library of Congress to update any documentation when someone dies or resigns. Therefore, it is important to use the web page you are now viewing (the lists above) to know the number of supporters, instead of the Library of Congress web page.

Number of Cosponsors at the end of the 110th session of the U.S. Congress (2007-2008): 87

Number of Cosponsors at the end of the 111th session of the U.S. Congress (2009-2010): 82
