- Explanation. The above partial list is a set of examples of organizations which are endorsers / supporters, along with the number of members of those organization. None of the numbers is meant to indicate that every individual member of every organization is a single-payer supporter.
- An organization’s leaders often decide to endorse H.R. 676 on behalf of their members. In some cases a key national group of the organization has established a resolution(s) which strongly encourages all members of the organization to strongly / vigorously support H.R. 676. An example of this is the United Methodist Church’s General Board of Church and Society.
- For an individual member to support what their organization endorses and supports, it may be necessary for that member to be given the opportunity to receive additional education. In this case, that education would be about single-payer national health insurance. Then the individual person can knowledgeably decide if their opinion agrees with the opinion of their organization’s leaders or committee who also learned about single-payer.
AFL-CIO means “The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations”
