About the OECD and its 2009 Report of Health Data

OECD: The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is an organization of 30 industrialized countries.

The OECD report that is used for bar chart reporting of data at this website is “OECD Health Data 2009: Statistics and Indicators for 30 Countries”.

Please note that the 2009 report has data through 2007. The numbers on the associated bar charts are the averages of available data for the years 2003 through 2007. The “Average of Six” is the population-based (population adjusted) average for the six countries noted.

Population-Based Averages
The population of the other six countries is a total of about 345.5 million persons with these percentages: France 18.7; Japan 36.9; Australia 6.1; Spain 11.8; Italy 16.9; Canada 9.7
For reference: the population of the United States is about 310.2 million persons.
