"Am I glad I left the US when I could."

"As a doctor in Canada, I can tell you single payer is the way to go. I don't deal with insurance companies. I see the patient, get paid and go home. I don't fight with the insurer over whether they will pay this test or that test. Overhead is lower, i don't have to provide my employees with health care (other than extended benefits for drug costs, dentists, physios, etc.). Businesses here don't have the added expense of providing expensive health care for their employees. They may provide extended health benefits which is a fraction of what real health care costs. Sending patients to see specialists, do CTs/MRIs are obtained in a timely fashion, if they're needed urgently or emergently. This socialized system is not on the verge of collapse."

"Canadians here love their universal health care system. Americans over 65 love their medicare too. So it's clear to me, that if universal health care is extended to everyone in America, everyone will be happy. What is the problem?"
